Take Pride in Who You Are

I have a question: How many overweight tigers have you ever seen? (Excluding ones that HUMANS take care of) How about monkeys? Oh, I got a good one…How about birds? Have you ever seen a fat bird? No? Why not? We all know the answer; these animals wouldn’t last 10 seconds in the wild. So how come it is ok for us?

These days everyone is screaming from the mountain tops, “Accept who you are!” We completely agree with this statement. However, it seems that this statement has been so twisted that it is now an affirmation for sitting on your ass, doing nothing but eating all day and getting slower and bigger with every passing hour.

Accepting yourself unconditionally means having the pride in who you are as a person. Well, here is a bit of news…..if you are proud of yourself, your body, that entails taking care of it. I personally have never seen someone who is proud of their car, while at the same time never washing it, leaving it filled with garbage, things broken, etc. What about someone who is proud of their son or daughter but at the same time tells them every day how horrible they are? What about someone who is proud of their home but it has broken windows, they throw trash all over the place, and they never invite friends over (not that the friends would come by)?

How is this different with your body? Stop making excuses. Being proud of yourself means taking care of yourself. It means staying healthy; taking care of the very thing you are proud of. Stop the contradictions. Stop thinking its ok for you to say in one breathe, I love who I am, but then put absolute trash in your body. That kind of action is a lie and it is only hurting you.

Invest in yourself. If you need help, ask a friend, ask a family member, heck, write us! The point is, figure out what motivates you to take care of the person you are proud to be.
