Passion

No tendency is quite as strong in human nature as the desire to lay down rules of conduct for other people. - William Howard Taft

Passion is essential to life. Life without a passion is not a life. There are those among us that seem to live for a passionate moment, putting everything into that one moment as if our life depended upon it. We are the few who strive to suck the most out of life. The few who live to experience new things, to learn, to continue sharing, growing and evolving. This passion is the very passion that changes everything from our body shape to the direction of a nation.

For too long we have been trained by to follow the rules as if they were absolutes. However, we are not robots. We are not carbon copies of each other. Each of us is a unique being with special gifts and talents. Each of us has our own difficulties and for some these difficulties are easier to overcome than for others. Sadly, we have been trained so well in following the rules that it is very difficult to break out of the ruts that these rules may cause.

Rules are not all bad. We all can use a hand sometimes when it comes to motivation. We all can stand to learn a little bit more about ourselves and how our bodies work from people who know more than we do. We all can use a little bit of help to push ourselves beyond what we think or rather, have been lead to think that we are capable of. But these ideas and rules are merely stepping stones, general ideas of what is possible.

Those of us who create history do it by stepping past the accepted norms, bending and perhaps breaking rules that are very well established as unbreakable facts. When one of us does this an amazing thing happens, not only do we grow but those around us grow as well. We begin to evolve and change, realizing that we can do more than we previously thought possible.

There are few among us who do not dream of great things, of performing great deeds, or accomplishing almost insurmountable goals. This passion is the fuel by which we live, and those of us that can tap into this fuel are the very same ones who accomplish our goals, no matter how big or small that they may be.

If your life is stuck in a rut, or if you have been told or even have experienced limitations that fall short of where you ideal is, take the time to step back and ask yourself if you are really ok with letting this dream die. Are you ok with letting someone else dictate what you yourself are capable of? If the answer is no, ask yourself what motivates you? Who motivates you? What is your ideal? What is your dream? Whatever it is that motivates you, that drives your passion, find it and use it as a fuel to get to the goals you want.
