Adapt

"Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more wisely."

What do you do on a day when you just don’t want to follow your exercise routine? How about your diet regiment? Does taking time off derail your progress? Does it lead you to a rut or a bad habit that you may not be able to pull yourself out of? Emotional, mental, and physical blockage is one of the biggest problems when it comes to achieving goals. For most of us this type of occurrence happens all the time.

And for many people, this occurrence can stop your progress dead in your tracks. So what is the answer?
In short, there is no one answer that fits for every person. We are not robots. We cannot all follow the same protocol and hope to achieve the same results. How often have you been a part of the scenario where you follow the instructions to a tee, whether it is exercise, diet, or even baking and yet you get different results than the picture perfect outcome in your instruction booklet?

The key to overcoming an obstacle like this is to learn to adapt yourself to your circumstances. As we said, everyone is different, and that means everyone adapts in a different way.

For example: If your exercise program involves a day of strenuous running and you are just not up for it, you don’t have time, or you just have something very important to do, try not to take it as a failure. Instead, adapt to your problem, and flow around it just as water flows around an obstacle. If you don’t have time to run, walk for a bit, do some jumping jacks, shoot some hoops, hit a tennis ball, ride a bike, sprint down to the ocean and jump in! Then come back to your regiment on the next day with more confidence because you moved around your obstacle.

The point is, no matter how you choose to adapt, you will end up feeling much better, even if you only get out and get moving for 5 or 10 minutes than if you fall prey to the road block and let it derail your progress.
